Our Story

Below is a note from the founders of the Mother-Child Institute, Maria and Rosie: wives to their partners, mothers to their children, and Licensed Clinical Social Workers to women and families, each with training and specialization in maternal mental health and Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health.

"After over 30 years’ combined experience providing evidence-based and best practice support to all families and young children, we set out to found the Mother-Child Institute, with a vision of providing treatment and prevention for women and families impacted by perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADS, e.g., postpartum depression and anxiety).

As a team, we value the parent-child relationship and take pride in our ability to provide compassionate, respectful support to all families and young children, with the goal of strengthening and building healthy relationships.

We are trained and seek continuous education in the most current research and best practices around maternal and child mental health.  We provide non-judgmental, specialized care to women and their families, focusing both on the individual needs of mother and child, while addressing the importance of building warm and nurturing relationships within the family system.  Our goal is to empower women and families to make informed decisions about their care and well-being, so that they can find balance and wellness in the perinatal period and beyond."

Our job is not to deny the story, but to defy the ending - to rise strong, recognize our story, and rumble with the truth until we get to a place where we think, Yes, this is what happened. This is my truth. I will choose how this story ends.
